Ben Bernanke

Former Chairman of the US Federal Reserve (2006–2014), who led the central bank through the 2008 global financial crisis and the ensuing Great Recession. Bernanke is widely credited with pioneering large-scale quantitative easing (QE) programmes to stabilise the financial system when traditional interest-rate cuts reached the zero lower bound. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics in 2022 for his research on banking crises, and his policy decisions continue to influence how traders interpret central bank interventions.

Example

“During the 2008 crisis, Bernanke's announcement of the first round of quantitative easing triggered a major rally in equity and bond markets as investors anticipated improved liquidity conditions.”
